Lose Fat, Build Muscle
Overweight and excess fat
When it comes to overweight and obesity in short, they always think that the problem is basically reduced to excess body weight due to the accumulated fat (adipose tissue), so that it automatically follows that the solution lies in losing weight without more, what will the elimination of excess fat. However, the question is not so simple, it is increasingly clear that obesity can be considered as a consequence of the simple scheme, “so you eat more, you earn both.”
There are many mediators in the body (neurotransmitters, hormones, etc.). That regulate metabolism and appetite. The activity of these mediators depends not only on the amount of food you eat or the degree of physical activity that takes place, although they have in these circumstances the main points of reference to increase or decrease.In the case of men, it is true that they have greater muscle development and socially women are considered masculine aesthetic concept that befits a man of ideal weight without excess fat, but with good muscle development. So for today’s man, as women, be leaner, but unlike it, gain some muscle and become stronger and better proportioned.
Catabolism and anabolism
The human body works according to two basic metabolic states are very different, the catabolic and anabolic.
Catabolism
The catabolic state is dominant when our body needs more energy and does not receive enough nutrients to get it, so it runs all the mechanisms for this extra energy, “burning” reserves that are not essential. This consumes lipids (fats) and amino acids in adipose tissue from self proteins (mostly muscle cells).
The prevalence is mainly catabolic with extreme physical activity, prolonged fasting, the conspicuous consumption of certain stimulants, chronic diseases that cause lack of appetite (appetite), and other possible which increases the basal metabolic rate (spending constant body energy), such as hyperthyroidism.
When the catabolic state prevails and makes for a long time, the person loses weight and lose not only fat but also muscle. The extreme degree of this trend is observed in some patients with extreme thinning entering cachexia situation, the person in this situation has lost so much fat and muscle is very weak and exposed to multiple risks.
Anabolism
The anabolic state is established when the body receives energy intake and thus left subordinates all its mechanisms to the reservoir of surplus, as hepatic glycogen and lipid in adipose tissue, basically.
When what predominates is the anabolic state does not occur symmetrically opposite of what happens to the catabolic state, which would be the formation of reserve fat and muscle, what happens here is that the body goes almost all the excess energy intake to the synthesis of fatty tissue, so the person comes with this fat and obesity.
However, there is a relationship between the different tissues of the body (fat, muscle, bone ,…) and a target weight that the body tends to keep and which is set according to a constitution and a concrete or habit level of activity. For that, our body has a complex network of chemical mediators role in metabolic regulation acting trying to maintain a stable weight.
