A heel spur is a bony protuberance that is located in a heel bone called the calcareous. This is a calcification due to chronic inflammation in the plantar fascia at the height of the calcareous. The plantar fascia is a set of tendons and fibrous tissue that attaches to the heel or heel and joins the base of the toes.
